Projects

The investor's inattention to the announcement of a business acquisition: day of the week and consequences on the wealth effect. Nº referencia organismo: GV/2020/151. Conselleria de Innovación, Universidades, Ciencia y Sociedad Digital

01/10/2020 - 31/12/2021
Our results have several implications. Firstly, they provide evidence of the lack of investor attention around takeover announcements in the Spanish market. Secondly, they support the relevance of considering the day/hour combination when analyzing the market reaction to the acquisition announcement. Overall, our results, for both abnormal profitability and abnormal trading activity, do not show that selection bias can distort the original finding of lower investor reaction and inattention to announcements of cash-financed acquisitions of unlisted companies on Fridays. The role played is to investigate the Principal (IP) of the Emerging Project. As a result of the scientific coordination work and the work of the research team, communications will be presented at three Congresses at the AECA International Meeting in 2020 and 2021. Obtaining the Communication accreditation Selected in the 2021 edition. In addition, the following scientific works are published in JCR journals: : - Is the Friday Effect a Firm Effect? The Case of Cash-Financed Acquisition Announcements of Unlisted Firms. Evidence From Spain (2023): - Board gender diversity and the acquisition announcement on Friday: evidence from Spain (2023) - Investor inattention to all-cash acquisition announcements: A joint day-time analysis in the Spanish market (2021)
