Description

This Unit's main objective is to optimize the diagnostic value of various nuclear medicine procedures in the framework of improving public health. This is achieved by:
- Manufacturing innovative human-like and shaped phantoms with precisely controlled motions for nuclear medicine,
- Performing SPECT/CT & PET/CT acquisitions and image processing at the collaborating Nuclear Medicine Departments, in Cyprus and abroad, following the clinical protocols and using the developed phantoms,
- Performing quantitative imaging analysis using dedicated innovative custom-made imaging software, and evaluating the diagnosis of the collaborating physicians.
The Unit collaborates with organizations such as the Nicosia General Hospital, the Limassol General Hospital, Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre, German Oncology Centre, European University Cyprus, Cyprus Institute, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Kings College London.
Other researchers: Professor Antonis Lontos, Associate Professor Theodoros Leontiou, Associate Professor Andreas Constantinides, Director of FIT Dr Pavlos Mavromatides, Dr Sotiris Research Scientist Dr George Charitou, Dr Sotiris Panagi, Kostas Michael (PhD student), Elena Ttofi (PhD Student)
