Nicholas Christofides, oined the Electrical Engineering Department of Frederick University in October 2006. He received his PhD and MSc degrees in December 2003 and September 2000 respectively from the University of Manchester Institute of science and technology (UMIST) in Electrical Power Engineering and his BSc degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from The University of Birmingham, UK in June 1999. His research interests lie in diversifying the role of distributed renewable energy, power quality, energy management and energy efficiency and performance assessment photovoltaic systems. He is a member of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK (IET), IEEE as well as other departmental and national committees. He is also a certified Energy Auditor, certified instructor for professional training and Qualified Expert for the energy performance certificates of residential and non-residential buildings. His teaching duties at the university focus in electrical engineering and in particular, in power systems, electrical services design and photovoltaic systems. He has been carrying out consulting work on photovoltaic system designs since 2005 where he consulted on the design of more than 250 grid connected and off-grid systems.

His contribution to this proposal will be to analyse the new electricity market legislation and regulations in Cyprus and propose the scenario for the energy trading scheme that will be adopted amongst the stakeholders. The trading scheme is of vital importance for the implementation of the platform.
