Prior to working for the UCV, he also worked for the University of Houston, USA, the University of Texas at Austin, Siena College -a non-postgraduate university- in Albany, New York, USA, and CIEE (Consortium of American Universities in Spain ) at the University of Alicante, Spain. He has also collaborated with the University of Deusto, Bilbao, Spain, the CEU-Cardenal Herrera University, Elche, Spain, the University of Wein, Austria, the University of Leeds, UK, Apor Vilmos Catholic College, Hungary, Henallux | Haute École de Namur-Liège-Luxembourg, Belgium and the Univesrity of Zadar, Croatia.
At the UCV he founded and directed the UCV-US Program for American universities, 2011-18, managing both academic and administrative aspects. He also served as international coordinator, was co-founder and coordinator of the Spanish Area of the Language Center, and coordinator of the DELE exams of the Cervantes Institute at the UCV.
His research seeks to understand contemporary Spanish society through the analysis of its literary and cinematographic expressions, paying special attention to the fears and anxieties that currently concern the population and how these are reflected in fiction. It also analyzes the role of otherness in the broadest sense of the term, including social, ethnic, academic, immigrant groups, etc. poorly represented in society, current or past, that appear in fictions published from the second half of the 20th century to the present. To this end, he has authored more than fifty publications mostly, but not exclusively, within the framework of crime novels, historical novels and science fiction.
