Dr. Angeliki T. Paraskevopoulou, is Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture and Ornamental Plants at the Laboratory of Floriculture & Landscape Architecture of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), first employed since 2008. She has a strong background and many years of experience in various research areas that include the study of: ornamental and native plant species grown on extensive green roofs and undercover; the use of plant species for the design and development of healing gardens; the use of native and spontaneous plant species in landscape planting works, established either individually or in mixes, contributing to the enhancement of the local landscape character; people’s preferences in the design of open green spaces; and the protection and conservation of agricultural heritage landscapes. Prior to her employment at AUA she has worked both in the UK and Greece as a full-time landscape architect and agriculturist in designing and managing public urban spaces including the National Garden, Athens, Greece. She currently teaches in 4 under- and 7 post- graduate modules and has taught the MLA modules “Landscape Assessment” and “Environmental Impact Studies” during the academic years 2012-2022”. She is currently coordinator of the project “URBAN HEAT WATCH. Urban Greenery and Climate Resilience Observatory” funded by the GREEN FUND and partner of the project “Democratic Landscape Transformation: Towards an Open Landscape Academy (OLA)” funded by ERASMUS +. She is also scientific collaborator for the City of Piraeus in the Horizon 2020 project “Integrated NBS-based Urban Planning Methodology for Enhancing the Health and Well-being of Citizens: the euPOLIS Approach”. She has participated in several more research projects funded by either private or public bodies of the Hellenic State and focused in general on subjects related to the design, establishment and management of sustainable planting schemes for urban green spaces and roof gardens. In 2016 she acted as one of the Conveners of the 6th International Conference on Landscape & Urban Horticulture, held in Athens, under the auspices of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) and the Laboratory of Floriculture and Landscape Architecture of the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. Also, she acted as board member of the Panhellenic Association of Landscape Architects (PHALA) for four years (2016-2019). She has implemented pro bono with the assistance of two MA students the planting design of the surrounding grounds and ground level green roofs of the National Gallery Alexandros Soutsos Museum, in Athens, Greece. She collaborated/designed the planting for the regeneration of public open spaces in two architectural idea competitions that received the second and third prize. Her design of a Mediterranean garden for the Hellenic Pavilion at the World Exhibition of Horticulture at Horti-EXPO IGA 2003 in Rostock, Germany received the bronze award. Amongst other publications she has peer reviewed 63 publications in scientific journals and international conference proceedings and 45 publications in national conference proceedings.
