Bio

Achilleas P. Achilleos (Ph.D) received his doctorate from the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex, which was co-funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and British Telecom (BT). He is currently a Lecturer at the School of Engineering, Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Informatics at Frederick University and co-director of the MDL lab at FRC. He is a Principal Investigator in several projects (10 running and 3 completed): the EUROSTARS AURA-CARE, GUIDED AAL, the Erasmus+ OLMEdu (coordinator), Be-Digital, BCT4SMEs, UPDEIT, BLISS, and the FIT and DHELIDA (ICT Lead) EU projects and the projects FW4H Pre-Seed, ASM4Deaf Pre-Seed, the SportsTraveler76 Research in Startups, the DineTours Exploitation and the NET-SMART Encouragement national projects. He was the ICT Technology expert of the SLKApps and CloudScanner industry projects and the ICT Technology expert for the CyFit tender, and a researcher in the Hate Interrupter Teams EU DG-REC project. He has also been a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the SEIT laboratory, Dept. of Computer Science, University of Cyprus: lead researcher in EU H2020, FP7, FP6, LLP and AAL research projects (Sci-Challenge, PaaSage, Prosperity4All, COIN, MUSIC, VALS and CVN). At the start of his career he worked as a part-time researcher at British Telecom, UK. His research interests are: pervasive and mobile computing, adaptive web engineering, service-oriented and cloud computing and model-driven engineering. He has published more than 50 papers and served as a chair in well-known conferences and as a reviewer in many well-known journals and conferences.

Trivia about me

I am a Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Frederick University of Cyprus teaching mainly the courses related to the area of Software, Web and Service Engineering. The focus of my work is on software architectures, design tools and techniques for engineering pervasive, service-oriented and adaptive systems. In fact, my research interests cover software, web and service engineering methods for pervasive computing, IoT and Smart Cities.
